Sheffield

Web design in Sheffield for small businesses.

One half of Swift Web Design is Sheffield born and raised. If you want a website builder who knows the difference between Hillsborough and Heeley without checking a map, that is the honest reason to start here.

Where we actually are

Local, and honest about what that means.

Plenty of agencies claim to be local when they are not. We would rather tell you how it really works.

Swift Web Design is two people. Josh, who writes most of what you read on this site, is from Sheffield and still lives here. Harry, the other half of the business, is down in Kettering. Neither of us works out of an office, so you will not find us claiming a Sheffield high street address we do not have.

What being local does change: if you want to meet, that is genuinely possible rather than a polite fiction. And when you describe your customers, we already know the area they are coming from.

We work with businesses across the whole UK. Sheffield just happens to be home for one of us.

What Sheffield businesses ask for

The work, in plain terms.

Most of what we get asked for in Sheffield falls into three groups. Nearly every job is some mix of them.

A first proper website

You have been running on a Facebook page and word of mouth. It works, until someone searches for what you do and finds a competitor instead. This is the most common job we take on.

Replacing something dated

The site exists but it was built years ago, breaks on a phone, and you cannot edit it without ringing whoever made it. We rebuild it so you can change your own opening hours.

Being found locally

Google Business Profile set up properly, location pages that read like a person wrote them, and the technical groundwork so Sheffield searches actually surface you.

Proof

A local trades business, from nothing to found.

Peak Plastering came to us with no website at all. An Instagram page, a Facebook profile, and quote requests quietly dying in DM inboxes.

We built the whole thing from scratch: contact forms that actually capture a job, a professional business email instead of a personal address, and local SEO so nearby customers find them when they search. Enquiries now land somewhere useful.

The reason this business exists is a number. Josh kept watching small firms get quoted three grand before anyone had built anything. So the pricing here is deliberately blunt.

  • Websites start at £400 and the quote is fixed before work begins.
  • We are not VAT registered, so the number you are quoted is the number you pay.
  • Most builds run 2 to 8 weeks, depending on how fast content comes back to us.
  • Once it’s paid in full and live, the site, the domain and the content are yours.
  • Larger projects take a 20% deposit, with the rest due before go-live.

Common questions

Sheffield questions, answered straight.

One of the two of us is. Josh is Sheffield born and raised and still lives here. Harry, the other half of Swift Web Design, is based in Kettering, and neither of us works out of an office. We would rather say that plainly than pretend to a Sheffield shopfront we do not have.
Websites start at £400. That is a real starting price, not a teaser. What moves it up is the number of pages, whether you need e-commerce, and whether you want branding or content writing on top. We are not VAT registered, so there is nothing to add to the quoted figure. You can price a build yourself using the calculator on our pricing page.
No, and most clients never do. Everything can be handled over email and a call. If you would rather sit down with someone in Sheffield and talk it through, that is genuinely possible, which is not true of most agencies quoting you from three cities away.
That is the point of building it properly. We set up your Google Business Profile, structure the pages around what people actually search for, and fix the technical basics that stop sites ranking. Local search is competitive and nobody can promise a position, but the groundwork is included rather than sold as an extra.
Yes. Most builds are WordPress, so you can change text, prices, opening hours and photos without ringing us. We show you how before handover. If you would rather we handled changes, our Plus plans cover ongoing edits and support.
